1. Scope and our approach

This policy explains how Ripple Studios handles information through this website and Focus, a Windows application for personal time intelligence. It applies to information we process when you visit the website or choose to use an optional Focus service.

Focus is designed to keep detailed activity history on your device by default rather than treating it as a cloud data source. We aim to use only the information necessary for the feature you choose to use.

2. Website information

When you visit this website, our hosting, performance, and analytics providers may process technical information such as pages viewed, referrers, approximate location, browser and device information, and performance data. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the website and to understand its use in aggregate.

Website information is separate from the detailed activity history recorded by Focus. Visiting this site does not give Ripple Studios access to that history.

3. Focus activity history

Focus records computer activity, including active applications, relevant window or page context, and session time, to provide timelines, categories, summaries, and trends. This detailed activity history is stored locally on your Windows device.

It is not synced to Ripple Studios as part of normal operation. You do not need a Focus account to use the core application or access your own history.

Focus provides controls to purge stored activity history from the application. Because the history is kept on your device, your device security and the people who can access your device also matter.

4. Notes and the planned Android companion

Notes lets you add dated context to a day in Focus. Notes are stored with the local Focus experience on your Windows device. You can clear the content of an individual Daily Note in the application.

We are planning an Android companion, but Notes sync is not currently available. Before release, we will publish details about pairing, permissions, security safeguards, what is transferred, and how you can control or stop syncing.

5. Optional features and product analytics

Focus may offer optional activity categorization for activity it cannot categorize locally. You must explicitly choose to use that feature. If you do not, the activity remains on your device and is not sent for external categorization.

Focus uses PostHog EU Cloud for product analytics to help us understand application reliability and feature use. In the current beta, this is enabled by default. Focus creates a pseudonymous profile connected to a randomly generated installation identifier; it does not require an email address or a Focus account.

Product analytics may include that identifier, limited feature-use, settings, update, and app-health events, plus technical context provided by the analytics service. Focus does not send detailed activity history, application names, window or page content, URLs, categories, or Daily Note content to PostHog. Autocapture, automatic page-view tracking, and session recording are disabled.

6. Service providers and sharing

We use service providers to host and measure this website, distribute software releases, receive contact messages, and provide product analytics. This includes Vercel, GitHub, Discord, and PostHog. They process information only as needed to provide those services.

These providers do not receive Focus activity history unless you explicitly use an optional feature that requires external processing. We do not sell detailed Focus activity history or use it for advertising.

When the contact form is available, messages are delivered to Ripple Studios through Discord. Do not include sensitive personal information or Focus activity data in a contact-form message.

Our providers may process limited website, contact, release, or analytics information in the countries where they operate or where it is needed to provide their services. Focus product analytics are configured for PostHog EU Cloud. Detailed Focus activity history is not transferred to Ripple Studios as part of normal operation.

7. Your choices and rights

Focus does not require an email address or contact information to record local activity history. You can manage stored activity history using the available controls in the application and clear individual Daily Notes.

Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights concerning personal information we control, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or information about our processing. Detailed Focus activity normally remains on your device, so the app’s local controls are the direct way to manage it. For information we control, including PostHog analytics profiles and events, website information, or contact messages, you can contact us to request access or deletion at [email protected]. We may ask for information reasonably needed to locate the associated analytics profile and protect against an unauthorized request. You can also use our contact section.

8. Retention and security

Local Focus history remains on your device until you manage it using the application’s available controls. We keep website, support, and product-analytics information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including security, operations, and improvement, subject to our providers’ current service configurations.

No system can be guaranteed completely secure. We use reasonable measures appropriate to the services we operate, and we design Focus so that detailed activity history does not need to be centrally stored for normal operation.

9. Children

Focus is not designed or marketed for children. It does not require an account, and local Focus information can be managed in the application. If you believe a child has provided Ripple Studios with remotely held contact or analytics information, please contact us so we can review and address the request.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Ripple Studios, Focus, or our services change. We will publish the current version here with an updated date.
