Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Focus is a Windows application developed by Ripple Studios. Focus records computer activity so you can understand how your time is spent.

We distinguish between information generated by the Focus desktop application and information collected through the Ripple Studios website.

2. Focus Desktop Application

Activity data

Focus records information about your computer activity, including active applications and browser website activity, in order to provide its timeline, categories, summaries, and trends.

Your detailed application and website activity is stored locally on your computer and is not synced to Ripple Studios as part of normal operation.

Local storage

Focus stores your detailed activity history on your device. You do not need a Focus account to use the core application or access your activity history.

Data deletion

Focus provides a data purge feature that allows you to delete your stored activity history from the application.

3. Product Analytics

Focus may use Aptabase for product analytics to help us understand how the application is being used and improve the product.

Product analytics are separate from your detailed activity history. Focus does not send your detailed application or website activity to Aptabase.

Analytics are intended to provide information about application usage, such as whether features are being used and whether the application is running normally.

An analytics preference to opt out will be available in Focus settings.

4. Optional Activity Categorization

Focus may offer an optional activity categorization feature to help improve categorization of activity that Focus cannot categorize locally.

This feature requires you to explicitly choose to send information for categorization. It is not required to use Focus.

If you do not choose to use this feature, the activity remains on your device and is not sent for external categorization.

5. Ripple Studios Website

The Ripple Studios website may use web analytics to understand aggregate website usage, such as page views, general geographic information, referrers, and device information.

Website analytics are separate from the detailed activity history collected by the Focus desktop application.

6. Information We Don't Need

You do not need a Focus account to use the core desktop application. Focus does not require your email address or contact information to record your local activity history.

7. Third-Party Services

The website and application may use third-party services for purposes such as website analytics, application analytics, software distribution, or optional activity categorization.

These services are separate from the local activity history used by the Focus desktop application, except where you explicitly choose to use an optional service such as activity categorization.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Focus develops or our services change. Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
